'Beat Teams,' is our instrument donation program, designed to increase access to music education and music therapy programs to people of all ages and backgrounds, throughout the world.
Beat is short for 'Heartbeat,' the most common and unified rhythm known to man. Teamwork, like music, is all about having a consistent rhythm and flow to be able to produce the best result. Our hearts don't collectively beat at the same time, but they do allow us to exist here on Earth at the same time, meaning we have the potential to always work together as long as our hearts are beating.
'Beat Teams' pays homage to the original idea of 'street teams,' selfless groups of people who would help promote bands from inside and outside of their town through a grassroots approach. We wanted to celebrate a vital cog in the independent music scene by committing the same selfless passion and energy to collecting and distributing instruments that the original street teams did for the bands they loved.
Since 2013, Beat Teams has put instruments into the hands of teachers, music therapists, community music leaders and most importantly the people who want to play them in 10 US cities as well as programs in Haiti and Panama.
